Out of the 42 PHCs in Dharashiv, 37 PHCs have operation theaters. In these PHCs, every week camps on family planning operations (Tubectomy) are organized. These operations are performed free of cost. The patient is given cash benefit entitlements of Rs 250 (Open category) and Rs 600 (ST, SC, BPL)

Janani Suraksha Yojna (Mother Security Scheme) is implemented in Government Health facilities and accredited private facility. It provides cash benefit to eligible pregnant women if they choose to deliver in a health facility, irrespective of their age and the number of children they have.The pregnant women is given cash benefit of Rs 700/- post delivery.

Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram entitles all pregnant women delivering in public health institutions to absolutely free and no expense delivery, including caesarean section. The entitlements includes free drugs and consumables, free diagnostics, free blood wherever required, and free diet for 3 days during normal delivery and 7 days for C section. This initiative also provides for free transport from home to institution, between facilities in case of a referral and drop back home (24*7) Similar entitlements have been put in place for all sick newborns and infants (up to one year of age) accessing public health institutions for treatment.

National Rural Health mission gives 1 Lakh of funds to PHCs, which can be utilized for the following
Availablity of filtered drinking water for patients
Sitting Arrangements for the patients-

Arrangements for lab diagnosis or certain medicines which are not available in the
PHCs-

PHC:- Rs 50,000 per year
Ayurvedic clinic Rs 15000/- per Year
subcenter Rs 10,000/- per Year

Every village is given a fund of Rs 10000 per year.These funds can be spent on the following

Essential care of pregnant mothers will be taken throughout in pregnancy, delivery and post natal period which includes health & nutritional care, free investigations & treatment. This day is to celebrate like a festival where every pregnant mother will experience Healthy & pleasant environment.

PMSMA is to take fortnightly (9nd & 22th of each month). The guidelines about conduction of this day are conveyed to all Medical Officers & Health Workers. From May 2014 this program is running in Dharashiv district.

Objectives –

1. Raising the credibility of Primary Health Centers & Sub Centers in the society.
2. To increase the number of institutional deliveries mainly in PHC & Sub Centers.
3. To reduce maternal mortality & infant mortality.
4. To have 100% coverage of comprehensive health services in all pregnant mothers.
5. Antenatal Services
   • Registration of all pregnant mothers within 12 weeks.
   • Total 5 times antenatal checkups.
   • H.B. estimation & iv-iron sucrose therapy (in H.B. < 7 gm %)
   • Urine examination ( Albumin & sugar)
   • HIV, VDRL & Blood Group examination.
   • Prophylactic inj. TT Immunization.
   • To indentify & treat high risk mothers.
   • Referral services.
   • Health Education about personal hygiene, diet & special care in pregnancy.
6. Intra natal Service
   • Birth planning for 100% institutional deliveries.
   • Free services under JSSK.
7. Post natal Services
   • Minimum 3 PNC visits.
   • Increase awareness & acceptance about child immunization.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a Maternity Benefit Programme that is implemented in the district. Providing partial compensation for the wage loss in terms of cash incentive s so that the woman can take adequate res t before and after delivery of the first living child.

The cash incentive provided would lead to improved health seeking behaviour amongst the Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW& LM).

It has been proved internationally that good maternity care leads to reduction in maternal deaths. Therefore, good maternity care and checkup is provided to the pregnant women in all the facilities of Dharashiv on a fixed day of the month Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Matrutva Abhiyaan is celebrated every month on 9th .All the medical officers and the Health staff are aware of it and play a major role in implementation of this day.

Cash incentive of Rs 5000 in three instalments i.e. first instalment of Rs 1000/ - on early registration of pregnancy at the Anganwadi Centre (AWC) / approved Health facility as may be identified by the respective administering State / UT, second instalment of Rs 9 2000/ - after six months of pregnancy on receiving at least one ante-natal check-up (ANC) and third instalment of Rs 2000/ - after child birth is registered and the child has received the first cycle of BCG, OPV, DPT and Hepatitis - B, or its equivalent/ substitute.
